Winter Academy 2027: International Masterclass for Conductors, Soloists, and Orchestral Musicians The Japanese-German Philharmonic Society proudly announces the Winter Academy 2027, held in Saitama, Japan. This intensive 9-day international masterclass is uniquely designed for conductors, soloists, and orchestral musicians who seek to elevate their artistry through rigorous practical training and deep stylistic insight. Under the artistic leadership of Director Naoki Sugiyama and a distinguished international faculty, the academy focuses on the core principles of the traditional German School of conducting and performance. A central pillar of our curriculum is developing a profound understanding of historical performance practices and conducting rigorous structural analysis based on critical score editions. Intensive foundational sessions utilizing two pianos, advancing to high-level, practical rehearsals with a professional ensemble/orchestra.Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation Programme 26-27
Our unique Foundation Programme gives recent music graduates of all backgrounds first steps into professional careers. Open to musicians up to two years after leaving formal study (degree/fellowship) as long as they have the right to work in the UK from October 2026 - July 2027. Running a range of ambitious projects, the Foundation Programme will give opportunity to 36 instrumentalists, soloists, conductor, singers and composer annually. As well as paid work in four orchestral concerts in London, participants will be supported by wraparound sessions each season, with mentoring from Orpheus Principals and support from eminent industry professionals. The Foundation Programme will establish a lasting space in which emerging professionals can explore and develop future livelihoods.
